Patient Advocacy

What is patient advocacy?

Navigating the system

Navigating the healthcare system and finding resources can be complicated and confusing for youth and their families, but we are here to help. Our Community Support Worker will be there to guide you every step of the way, helping to match you with the right programs and services, advocate for your needs, and answer any questions you might have throughout the process.

Appointment advocacy

If you’ve ever left an appointment feeling misunderstood or disappointed, then having someone support you at your appointments might be for you. Our Community Support Worker can help you to create a plan beforehand and even attend your appointments with you, ensuring your voice is being heard and supporting you through the process. Many people struggle to explain their experience to healthcare practitioners, and some youth may not even have the language to accurately describe how they feel. We can help you translate your experience into terms healthcare practitioners can easily understand, helping you make the most of your appointments and properly address all your concerns.

Paperwork & applications

Filling out paperwork and going through application processes can be daunting tasks, and if you find yourself feeling confused or overwhelmed we can guide you through it. Many services look for specific wording when you apply to them, but don’t tell you what that is. We can help increase the chances of approval by assisting you through the application process, and answer any questions or address concerns that pop up along the way.
